They are both silicone-based and two-part – requiring a 1:1 mix from a 400ml double-plunger cartridge using hand or machine application. GF400 is also available in a 50ml version.


Consistency is a soft flexible putty, according to the company, that can be moulded around different shaped housings with low stress on components.

Material characteristics are said to reduce the risk of air pockets forming, and are suited to applications where the gap is non-uniform – such as between multiple components and a collective heatsink or case.

Following application, the gap fillers can be cured at room temperature or accelerated with heat – at 25°C, gel time is an hour and cure time is 12 hours – cure drops to 20 minutes or under at 100°C.

After curing, GF300 and GF400 the results are low modulus elastomers – preventing the ‘pump-out’ of the thermal interface layer from the bond line “and ensuring minimal degradation of heat dissipation”, according to Electrolube.

Once cured, operation range is -50 to +200°C, and the materials are UL approved for retarding flames to UL94 V-0, and are RoHS compliant.

“Typically, thermal gap fillers are used in touch screen and mobile applications,” said the company, adding that it has seen use in: consumer electronics, data centre servers, fibre optic equipment, LED lighting, electric vehicle batteries, vehicle electronic control modules, memory modules for PCs, GPUs, chargers, solar panels and wind turbines.
